Part 1: By Tuesday Night, Share Your Initial Post

In writing workshops, you will be asked to share, as your first post, a specific piece of writing you are working on at the time, along with some comments or adjustments, depending on the assignment. This week, the piece of writing is your Week 1 Introduction and Course Theme.

In future Writing Workshops, you’ll be provided with a worksheet to complete and attach in the thread, but for this week, please answer the following prompts. Strive for approximately 2 paragraphs.

1.    What is your preferred name?
2.    What is your professional background? What are your personal interests and basic information about who you are, including any “fun facts”? Feel free to share a photo!
3.    Read the Module One Introduction. What questions do you have about the information there?
4.    What experience do you have with the writing process (pre-writing techniques, planning, outlining, drafting, etc.)? If you have no experience with using a writing process, what questions do you have about the writing process?
5.    What is the course theme for this term (listed in the announcements)?
6.    What experiences do you have with the course theme?

Part 2: By Saturday Night, Complete One Full Peer Review for a Classmate

Peer Review Post Instructions

  • Choose one classmate who has made their initial post and who does not already have a peer review.
  • In the future, you’ll be provided with a Peer Review worksheet to complete and return to your peers, but for this week, please to reply to your classmates by expressing your thoughts on your peers' interests, backgrounds, "fun facts," and experiences with the writing process. Compare and contrast your own experiences with the course theme.
  • Strive for at least 8 full sentences in your peer response.

Part 3: By Sunday Night, Continue the Conversation

Continue the Conversation Post Instructions

In addition to making your own initial post and finishing a peer review for one classmate, you must also continue the conversation by making at least 1 additional post of at least 3 full sentences in length. This post may do any of the following:

  •  Respond (kindly) to one of the peer reviews classmates have given you.
  • Respond (kindly) to any questions your classmate may have for you about the peer review you completed.
  • Respond to a classmate you did not previously review, with some brief comments about their writing.
