HLT-362, Topic 4 DQ 2

Mixed-methods research combines the strengths of qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues. In this activity, you will design a mixed-methods study to address a specific problem in health care.

Identify the Problem: Select a health care issue that could benefit from a mixed-methods approach. Examples might include reducing hospital readmissions, improving staff morale, or implementing a new patient care program. Note: Please choose a different topic than what others have posted.

Describe the Research Design:

  1. Explain the selected qualitative method (e.g., interviews, focus groups, or observations) in your study.
  2. Explain the selected quantitative method (e.g., surveys, performance metrics, or statistical analysis) in your study.
  3. Specify the type of data you would collect and how each method contributes to addressing the problem stated above.

Discuss Complementarity: Explain how this combined approach could lead to actionable recommendations.

Address Challenges: What challenges might you face in combining these methods (e.g., time constraints, data integration, or conflicting results)?

Initial discussion question posts should be a minimum of 200 words and cite at least two references using APA style.
